Down the Hatch chronicles the story of Joe Connelly, an amateur professional eater looking to make a name for himself. Like any athlete, Connelly has had his share of great triumph and demoralizing failure. The film explores the prestigious world of competitive eating and what it takes for a seemingly normal kid to take the sport by storm.

Justin Goetz is making his directorial debut with his short sports documentary, Down the Hatch. As a graduating senior in the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism, Justin has always had a love for film and would love nothing more to pursue a career in the field. He will be moving to Chicago after graduation in hope to do just that.
